I was so sad to hear of Joe's passing. We were in many of the same classes through elementary school to high school. We met again when we were both released from the Army on the same day. He was a very articulate guy. I still remember him telling our seventh grade class about his trip cross country with his father and passing through the cornfields of the Midwest and how high the corn grew next to the truck. None of us had been anywhere but Joe had and he described it so well I remember it today, and I believe his father died very young. Joe was a special guy.

I just learned of Joe's passing. We were friends as teenagers. Our family spent the summers in Bay Springs. Lots of good memories. I remember Joe as one of the "cool" guys, always with his little dog, if my memory serves me correctly, his name was Cheip. It's always sad to hear of the passing of a childhood friend. Please accept my deepest sympathy. Joe was a great guy.
