Warren - Joseph L. Alves 99, of Warren , and formerly of Bristol died Saturday October 27, 2018 at the Warren Skilled Nursing Home.

He was the husband of the late Rose ( Sousa) Alves.

Mr. Alves was born in Bristol , a son of the late Mariano and Helen ( Souza) Alves.

Joseph was a Custodian for the Fleet Bank for 14 years, before retiring.

He was a US Army Veteran of WWII, serving in Africa.

Mr. Alves was a Bristol resident for all of his life , before moving to Warren Skilled Nursing Center.

He was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth Church.

Joseph is survived by his children Richard and his wife Elizabeth Alves, Doreen Chauvin and her husband Roger. He was the brother of Mariano " BABE" Alves.

Mr. Alves was the grandfather of Steven Alves, Aaron Chauvin, Matthew Chauvin, and also the great grandfather of Logan Chauvin, Riley Chauvin, Kya Chauvin.

He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Edmund Alves, John Alves, and Edith Medeiros.

Mr. Alves was the grandfather of the late David Alves.

Private funeral services were held Thursday , November 1, 2018 in the Smith Funeral and Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren.
