K. Louise MacGillivray, aged 92, of Barrington, passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, October 11, 2023. She was the beloved wife of the late Albert J. MacGillivray; they were married for 61 years.

Louise was born in Cambridge, MA to the late Edward and Katherine Lane, the fifth of eight children. After graduating from Roslindale High School, Louise took classes at Boston University and worked as a legal secretary in a large Boston law firm. She married Al and they raised a family of five children, moving to Barrington, RI in 1972. Louise worked at the Providence Journal Bulletin as an Inside Classified Sales Representative. Louise and Al were very active in the St. Luke’s Parish and, after retiring, with the Brown Community for Learning in Retirement program. Louise became a tour guide at Blithewold and an active member in the Hameho Garden Club, writing a regular column for its newsletter, winning awards at different flower shows, and making lifelong friends. She loved working in her large garden, travelling, cooking, reading, her book club, her memoirs group, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Louise is survived by her daughter, Karen Zangari and her husband Paul of Lincoln, RI; four sons, Stephen MacGillivray of Barrington, RI, Brian MacGillivray and his wife Anne of Port Orchard, WA, Brendan MacGillivray and his wife Debra of Bel Air, MD, and Scot MacGillivray and his wife Trish of Barrington, RI; eleven grandchildren, three great grandchildren, a sister, JoAnn Thayer of Cohassett, MA. She is predeceased by six siblings, Mary, Edward Jr., Kenneth, Dorothy, Paul and Richard.

Services are with Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Rd. Warren, RI, where the family will receive relatives and guests for Visitiation on Thursday, October 19, 2023 from 4-7PM. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 20, 2023 at 10AM followed immediately by A Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM in St. Luke’s Parish, 108 Washington Rd. Barrington, RI.
