Obituary For Kevin Edward Martel

Kevin Edward Martel, 53, of Warren, RI, passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence.

Born in Fall River, MA, he was the son of Edward Albert and Nancy L. (LeComte)Martel of Warren, RI.

Mr. Martel worked at Citizens Bank for numerous years, earning Banker of the Year four years in a row. He attended Warren High School where he was captain of the wrestling team and was also All State and All New England at the high school level. He wrestled for Plymouth State College, where he achieved All New England all four years. He was a member of the Ironman Club at Plymouth State. He was inducted into Warren Athletic Hall of Fame in 2009. He loved the Buffalo Bills and was an avid sports card collector. Kevin enjoyed quiet times on the Kickemuit quahogging, crabbing and clamming.

Besides his parents, he is survived by his children, Benjamin and Abigail Martel of Barrington, RI, a sister, Karen Vincelette and her husband Adam and their son Noah of Alburgh, VT, an aunt and uncle, Sue and Steve Letourneau of Fall River, MA, an aunt, Doreen LeComte of Tiverton, RI, and three cousins, Tracey Riley, Brian LeComte and Mandy Letourneau. He was also the nephew of the late Richard LeComte.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, October 17, 2022, from 4-7 PM in Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Rd., Warren.

A prayer service will be held on Monday, October 17, 2022, at 6 PM in Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Rd. Warren.

Burial will be private.

    Kevin was surely one of a kind. I had the privilege of not only calling him a wrestling teammate and mentor, but more importantly, friend. You will be missed Kevin! Peace and comfort to his family.
