Obituary For Laurie B. Ball
Laurie B. Ball, 41, of East Providence, RI, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 7, 2024, at HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center with her loving mother by her side.
Laurie began her life’s journey as a world traveler. A daughter of Brian and Susan (Goodwin) Joinson, she was born in California, then moved to Puerto Rico with her family for three years. She then settled in Bristol for a bit before finally moving to East Providence, where she spent the last 20 years of her life. She continued to visit various other places over the years, never letting anything slow her down.
Laurie adored anything purple, was known for her great giggle, and was nicknamed “Tigger” for the bouncy way she scooted across the floor as a toddler. She enjoyed camping with her family, long van rides, attending her big brother’s band concerts, large family gatherings, and watching movies snuggled up with her little sister, Emily. She also loved sailing off the coast of Puerto Rico, hiking along the Kancamagus Highway in NH, flying in airplanes, riding on trains, going for walks, and watching “Animal Planet” and “The Crocodile Hunter.” What Laurie loved most, though, was her family, especially Emily.
While growing up, Laurie attended the Meeting Street School. She also participated in the Special Olympics for several years. After finishing school as a young adult, she and her mom were very blessed to find a great group home through LIFE Inc., with staff who were able to provide Laurie with great physical care and who became family as they supported her to continue to live a full and rich life.
In addition to her loving parents, Laurie is survived by her brother Isaac Ball and his wife Sara of Pemberton, NJ; stepbrothers Christopher Joinson of Fall River, MA, and Brian Joinson and his wife Jennifer of China, ME; sister Emily Ball of Warren, RI; and stepsisters Marissa Joinson and her husband Daniel Karten of Warren, RI, and Tracy Joinson of Warren, RI.
Services are with Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren, RI, where the family will receive relatives and guests for a Celebration of Life on Saturday, June 15, 2024, from 12-3 p.m.

Dawn Wardyga & family
Dear Sue & family, I was very saddened to hear of your loss. I know that it has been quite some time since we've been in touch, but good and supportive friends that we meet in life, naturally form a life-long bond that can never be broken in our hearts, regardless of how much time passes. As I read all about Laurie's life, it is clear that she had a full and meaningful life full of love and happiness, thanks to the loving family she was born into. It warms my heart to see that for her and your entire family. May you all find peace and comfort in your many years of happy memories with her and know that she will always be with you - her spirit will live on in your hearts 💕. I know that from personal experience. Fondly, Dawn Wardyga & family
