Obituary For Lawrence W. Olsen

Lawrence W. Olsen, 63, of Portsmouth died unexpectedly on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at home.

He was born in Boston, a son of the late Leonard O. and Martha (Lawrence) Olsen.

Lawrence was previously a mail handler for the US Postal Service for many years. He was a US Army veteran, serving in the Artillery division.

Lawrence has lived in Portsmouth since 2009, coming from Providence and Revere, MA.

Mr. Olsen volunteered at the RI Veterans Home in Bristol for many years, and was very active in the activities within the home. He had also enjoyed fishing.

Mr. Olsen is survived by a brother Leonard A. Olsen of Beverly MA., his sisters Janice Ross, of Revere MA, Linda Rundhovde of Maine, and Cheryl Olsen of Revere MA, a nephew Douglas and his wife, Vanessa Olsen, of Spencer, MA, a niece, Laurie Catania, of Maine, 6 great nieces and 1 great nephew. Lawrence was the uncle of the late Leonard M. Olsen and his wife, Kerry Olsen, of Spencer, MA.

A gathering will be held Thursday at 11:30am in the Smith Funeral and Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Rd., Warren followed by committal prayers at 1:45 pm in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne MA, burial with Military Honors will follow. www.wjsmithfh.com

    Larry was a wonderful cousin. He was always sweet, kind and loving. I will miss you very much and I love you. God bless you! Now you can go fishing with your Dad and Uncle Larly.

    I am so sorry to hear about the loss of Larry. He was such a good guy. Every time I ran into him, he would say "hi Cuz, what's the buzz". He had a smile and a good word for everyone.
