Obituary For Linda J. Parker

East Providence - -Linda J. Parker, 74 of Alexander Avenue, East Providence, died Sunday December 30, 2018 at the Linn Health Care in East Providence.

She was born in Providence a daughter of the late George I. and Alice E. ( Barnett) Parker. Linda was a graduate of East Providence High School Class of 1962, and then attended the Boston Conservatory of Music. She had moved to Las Vegas ,when she was in her 20's, and worked for airlines and in the hotel industry. She was a capable office manager and oversaw small restaurant staff, insurance offices, and other businesses during her career. Linda was born with several health conditions, including spina bifida. She never let that stop her from being active, even with the risks it entailed.

Linda studied dance and gymnastics in her youth and always loved singing. As recently as last year, she was so excited to be participating in a talent show at Rumford Towers. Linda was a nurturing person who took in stray animals and people and helped them feel at home. She was a dedicated pet owner and took better care of her cats than some people are taken care of. She loved learning and travel. In her youth she traveled internationally and all over America. In her later life, she spent time in Hawaii frequently with her cousin Susan, with whom she was very close. More than anything, Linda loved her family. She was a dedicated mother and doting grandmother. Being able to spend her final years close to her brother and nieces and nephews was a true gift.
