Linda L. Pelland (Travers), 70, of Bristol, passed away peacefully on Friday May 16, 2014 surrounded by her loving family.
She was the wife of Joseph A. Pelland and the late Gerald A. Marshall Sr.
Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Manuel and Mary (Biancuzzo) Travers.
Linda was a lifelong Bristol resident. She was a self-employed hairdresser in Warren for many years. She was a member of the Bristol County Lions Club, a past President, secretary, vice-president, state zone chair, she also chaired State night and all fundraisers. She was very passionate with adopt a family program, to include thanksgiving baskets and Christmas gifts during Christmas. Linda started the Scholarship Breakfast Fund which funded over 50 students with scholarships.
She was the mother of Gerald A Marshall Jr of Bristol and Vicki Cairrao and her husband Kenneth of Bristol and her daughter in law Cynthia Marshall of Bristol. She had four grandchildren Harley, Tyler, Gregory and Angelina and one great granddaughter Lilly. Sister of Richard J. Travers and his wife Mary Lou of Bristol and Joseph E. Travers and his wife Marie of Bristol.
Arrangements are with Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Rd, Warren, where family will receive friends Tuesday May 20, 2014 from 4-7pm. Funeral will be held Wednesday 9am from the funeral home, 10am in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, State St. Bristol. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Bristol. In lieu of flowers Donations may be made to the Bristol County Lions Club, P.O. Box 534, Bristol, RI 02809.

Vicky, Gerald,Jr., and rest of family: I am truly sorry to hear of the loss of your mom. She and I worked together for years at the June-Rose Salon. We worked very hard but yet found time to have fun and laugh. Always remember that a mother is the most important person in your life, for she is the one that was there when you took your first breath and you had the chance to be there for her when she took her last. A mother is the one who always kept you spotless and dressed to the 9's for you were the love of her life. A mother's love for her child never ends even when she is no longer with you. Believe me when I tell you that she will always be there with you now and always from her own special place. Be thankful and proud that you had her this long for I always felt I was cheated in time with my mother for I lost her when she was 56 yrs old and I was only 17 yrs old. Be at peace with her loss for she has completed the journey of life one yet we still have to complete.

I was taken back this morning when I read about my friend Linda. She was always that joyous smile in the dugout when I was playing Little League. Later in my life I grew to realize just how dedicated Linda was in the community. My friend Joe knows Linda has always been in my heart and though miles and years separated us she has remained in my thoughts. Rich and Joe I am so sorry for your loss. My prayers and thoughts go out to you and your families. Linda will always be my friend and the memories I have of her will comfort me for a lifetime. Keep the faith, your buddy Larry
