Obituary For Linda Machado

LINDA C. (MONIZ) MACHADO, 74, of Barker Avenue, a retired registered nurse and business owner, died Thursday at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence.

She was the wife of John S. Machado. They had been married for 43 years. Born in Warren and a lifelong resident of the town, she was a daughter of the late Manuel V. and Agnes (Mello) Moniz.

She was a registered nurse and founder of Grace Barker Nursing Center. She retired in 1984. She also owned and operated Health Care Suppliers, which became the Willows Assisted Living and Day Care Center in 1998.

She graduated from the Truesdale Hospital School of Nursing and worked an advocate for the elderly and the nursing profession. She was a member of the Truesdale Hospital Nurses Alumni Association, and the Rhode Island Health Care Association.

She was a member of the Prince Henry Club of Rhode Island, and a communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church.

Besides her husband, she leaves a son, John Francis Machado of Warren; a daughter, Mary Beth Lescault of Swansea; two sisters, Evelyn Moniz of Warren and Rosalie Marcello of Barrington; and two grandsons. She was the sister of the late Joseph, Frank and Manuel Moniz, Mary Mendoza and Laura Riggi.

Burial will be in St. Jean the Baptiste Cemetery.
