Obituary For Lisa Marie Barrus

Lisa Marie Barrus, 63, of Warren, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 20, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in 1962 in Providence, Rhode Island, to Harold S. and Josephine R. (Harrison) Barrus, Lisa was a beloved sister, aunt, and friend.

During her earlier years, Lisa enjoyed a fulfilling career in television starting with public access cable and eventually joining PBS in Maine. Progressing through multiple roles as a producer, director, and editor, Lisa concluded her television career in Providence, working for both WPRI and WLNE. In later years, Lisa transitioned to the medical field and found her niche in dermatology.

A devout Catholic and parishioner of St. Mary of the Bay Parish, Lisa had a deep devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Demonstrating faith in action and a servant’s heart, Lisa sang in the Church’s choir and volunteered at St. Mary of the Bay’s food pantry, helping the poor and needy.

Known for her sarcastically funny personality, Lisa’s passion extended to the kitchen, earning her the title “Recipe Queen” amongst family and friends. She enjoyed frequent walks to Warren Town Beach, listening to her favorite singer, Barry Manilow, and vacationing in Maine. Most of all, Lisa cherished the company of her family, friends, and Hennessy, her beloved cat.

Lisa will be deeply missed by all who loved her. Her zeal for life, love, living her faith, and commitment to those less fortunate will continue to inspire us all.

Lisa is survived by her brother Robert J. Barrus of Rumford, Rhode Island; brother and sister-in-law Matthew and Barbara Forman of Virginia; sister Lori E. Barrus of Warren, Rhode Island; sister and brother-in-law Linda A. and William J. Chapman Jr. of Florida; nephew William J. Chapman III, niece Ashley M. Chapman, her treasured cat Hennessey, and a large, extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold S. and Josephine R. Barrus, brother Raymond F. Harrison, and, especially dear, uncle and aunt George J. and Joan E. Bennett.

My sincere condolences to Lisa's family & friends. The first time I met her was when I went for my dermatology appointment at a new office. She was so kind, funny & caring. I made sure to always request her for my appointments. Sadly I was given the news of her passing at my recent visit. May the sadness in your hearts turn to peace knowing you have a special angel watching over you. ❤️💔❤️

I met Lisa when I needed to re home a cat of a dear friend and she graciously offered to take Hennessy . I will be forever grateful to her because I don't think she really wanted a cat in her life-she just didn't want him to go with strangers. Thank you so much, Lisa. May you rest in peace.
