Obituary For Manuel N. Cotta

Manuel Manny N Cotta Jr, 79, of Bristol, died Sunday November 10, 2019 surrounded by his loving family at Rhode Island Hospital. He was the beloved husband of 53 years to the late Carol Ann (OGara) Cotta.

Born in Warren, he was the son of the late Manuel N. Cotta Sr. and the late Lucy (Alves) Cotta.

Manuel attended the Warren school system. He was an employee of various auto dealerships throughout the state of Rhode Island and surrounding Massachusetts. Manny was an employee of Bristol County Dodge as a service manager for 25 years until his retirement in 2007. He served in the United States Air Force and was a member of the Army National Guard of Rhode Island. He was a member of many organizations such as a life member of the Bristol County RI ELKS Lodge 1860, a commissioner for Benjamin Church Housing Authority, a member of the Bristol Sports Club and a former Rhode Island Democratic Committee member. Manny was a parishioner of St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Warren.

He enjoyed traveling, cooking, eating ice cream, the casino, playing cards, fixing cars, the beach in Aruba, watching the Red Sox /Patriot games and spending time with his family and friends including his two granddogs Bella Rae and Baileys Comet.

Manny is survived by his daughter Denise Cotta- Fontana and her husband Luigi Fontana of Bristol and a son Michael J. Cotta Sr. and his wife Mary-Ellen Golda-Cotta of Warwick. He was the grandfather of Christina M. Fontana and Michael J. Cotta Jr of Bristol and two step-grandchildren Joseph Charleson and Jessica Sylvia. In addition, he leaves his two sisters Lorraine Dalesio and Joan Swist both of Warren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his sister Juliette Cotta.

His funeral will be held on Monday November 18th, 2019 at 9:00 am from SMITH FUNERAL and MEMORIAL SERVICES, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren followed by a mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 500 Metacom Ave., Warren burial will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, Chestnut St, Bristol.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
