Obituary For Marc K. Alves
Marc K. Alves, 53, of Warren, died unexpectedly at home on February 24, 2026. Born in Providence, he was the son of Patricia (Willmore) Accardi and the beloved husband of Erin (Cote) Alves.
Marc grew up in Bristol, RI and resided in Warren, RI for most of his adult life. He most recently worked for First Student as a bus monitor and previously worked in the jewelry industry as a cultured pearl buyer. Through his work, he traveled around the world purchasing pearls and exploring cities most people only dream of seeing.
Above all else, Marc adored his daughters and loved his dog, Jack. In the summers, you could find him in the backyard destroying his family in “baggo” (cornhole) or manning the grill. He loved cooking for others and took particular pride in his famous clam chowder; a dish many considered a true luxury. He spent countless hours quahogging on local beaches, digging for the perfect clams for his beloved chowder, which everyone agrees was always worth the effort.
Weekends were often spent cheering on his favorite teams. Of course, he loved the New England Patriots, but he was by any definition a true fan of the Fighting Irish and never missed a Notre Dame college football team. Marc also cherished long scenic walks at Colt State Park and around town with Jack and his children. His camera roll was filled with oceans and nature, photographs capturing everything he loved about living in the East Bay.
In addition to his mother and wife, Marc leaves his beloved daughters, Abbey and Ella Alves. He was the brother of Andrea Cook (and husband Scott Cook) and the late Michelle Alves (and wife Andrea Difilippo). He also leaves behind his mother-in-law, Deb Cote and father-in-law, Ron Cote.
Arrangements are with Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren. Family will receive friends on Friday, March 6, 2026, from 3–5 p.m. followed immediately by a service in the funeral home at 5 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mental Health Association of Rhode Island in Marc’s memory, in support of mental health awareness and advocacy. https://mhari.org/donate-today/

I'm so so sorry for your loss. Marc was my monitor on my bus for First Student. Although we only knew each other for a short time & at the time of the loss of his beloved sister we shared a lot of conversations. He was a huge Patriots fan as am I so we had that in common. The kiddos on the bus loved him as he had a sensitive soul, & our kids with special needs his patience with them was so comforting. Last we chatted/text was about the Pats. He will surely be missed.
