Obituary For Maria Alice Terra
Maria Alice (DeLima) Terra, 91, of Warren, RI, passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. A daughter of the late Francisco and Margarida (Augusta) Pereira and the beloved wife of the late Joao P. Terra, Maria grew up in Terceira, Azores and came to the United States in 1969 where she raised her family.
Maria was a devout Catholic and volunteered at St. Thomas the Apostle Parish and was also very involved with the Holy Ghost Society, both at St. Thomas and at the Warren Soccer Club, during her younger years. She was a world traveler and enjoyed seeing all different places around the world and would also take every opportunity to visit her family in Porta Martins, Terceira. Maria had a real passion for gardening and was often found tending to her plants. She really enjoyed walking, drives through Colt State Park, and loved to sit and watch the animals and sunsets. More than any of that, Maria loved her family and they were all the pride of her life.
Maria is survived by her sons, John E. Terra and his wife Elia of Warren, RI and Mario F. Terra of Warren, RI; her daughters, Maria Turcotte and her husband Billy of Warren, RI and Olga M. Allstrom and her husband Peter of Warwick, RI; her six grandchildren, Jennifer Lee Terra and her fiancé Michael, Eric E. Terra and his wife Kara, Shana Goodwin and her husband Greg, Ethan Costa, Jamie Allstrom and his fiancé Audrey, and Heather Allstrom (Caleb); and her six great grandchildren, Kyle Terra, Bamba Terra, Nesta Terra, Stella Terra, Graham Goodwin and Hudson Goodwin. She was the sister of the late Francisco Pereira DeLima and Senhorinha Pereira Araujo.
Services are with Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Rd. Warren, RI 02885, where the family will receive relatives and guests for Visitation on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 from 8:30-10:30AM followed immediately by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM in St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, 550 Metacom Ave. Warren, RI 02885. A Burial will follow at St. Mary of the Bay Cemetery, Vernon St. Warren, RI 02885.
