Maria D. (Vieira) Simas, 86, of Bristol passed away on Sunday, May 31, 2026 as Silver Creek Rehabilitation & Health Center in Bristol with her family at her side.

Born in Azores, Portugal, she was the daughter of the Jose R. Vieira and Maria Jesus (Bareiro) Vieira.

She was a member of the Radiant Christian Assembly of God Church in Warren, RI for many years. She was an active member of the church and participated in multiple church groups. She loved to crochet, knit, take care of her plants and visit with friends and family.

Maria is survived by her children: John Simas (Lucy), Theresa Simas Pereira (Nick), Elsa Simas, Marilia Simas-Whyte (Paul); her three grandchildren; and her eight great grandchildren; and extended relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Manuel C. Simas; her parents; and her siblings.

Arrangements are with Smith Funeral and Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren, RI where the family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, June 9, 2026 from 8:30 AM- 10:00 AM. A Service will be held at Radiant Christian Assembly of God Church, 895 Main Street, Warren, RI at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 9, 2026. She will be laid to rest at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 550 Wampanoag Trail, East Providence, RI.
