Obituary For Marianna Beatrice Massed

Massed, Marianna, 88, of Warren, wife of the late Miley T. Massed, died peacefully April 2nd at the home of her daughter. Beloved mother of John M., Nicholas and Alfred Massed, Kathleen McGovern, Marianna McKim, Ann Marie Massed, Barbara Fisher, and Pauline Massed. She had 19 grandchildren, was grandmother of the late Jason Massed and leaves 2 great grandsons. She had nine brothers and sisters. She is survived by Adelino Raposa and Amy Rebello and preceaded in death by Manuel, Louis and David Raposa, Rosalina Rodrigues, Mary Ripa, Gilda Fernandes and Clara Trifero. Widowed at a young age, Marianna raised eight children as a single parent. She was a gardener of vegetables, flowers and grapevines. She was active in the St Mary of the Bay parish and the community. For many years she taught CCD, volunteered at the Summer Festival and was a Scouts den mother. As a member of the The Legion of Mary, she visited nursing homes weekly. She was laid to rest on April 7th from Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, Warren. A funeral mass was celebrated at St Mary of the Bay Church, Warren. My sincere condolences to the whole Massed family. I have fond memories of Boy Scouts with Nick and Alfred. Your Mom was terrific to all of us. I remember meetings at her house as well as our red, white and blue school bus that we parked there. She gave so much of her time.
