Obituary For Marie P Tucker

After a long and incredible life, Marie P. Tucker, 96, of Bristol, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 13, 2022 surrounded by her loving family and the caring staff at the Rhode Island Veteran's Home. She was born in Brooklyn, NY, to the late Comiso J. and Dorothy (Reynolds) Bressi. Marie began her career as a Nurse enlisting in the Navy at the age of 19 to serve her country during World War II. She received training in Phoenix Arizona and was stationed at the US Naval Hospital in San Diego California. Her service earned her the World War II Victory Medal. Born and raised in Brooklyn NY, Marie adopted Bristol as her hometown, considering herself a true Bristolian, where she lived the remainder of her life. She was a lifelong member of St. Michael's Church, serving as a Sunday School teacher, Junior Choir Mother and enjoyed singing in the Choir herself. She was a Den Mother for her son's Boy Scout Troop as well as a Girl Scout Leader for her daughter's Troop. In her free time, Marie loved to crochet sweaters and blankets for every baby born into the family and for any baby announcement she received. Marie loved animals, especially cats, and always had a beloved pet by her side throughout her life including at one time a pet skunk. She was a huge fan of the British Royal Family especially Queen Elizabeth and Princess Diana, binge watching The Crown as often as she could. Although she did not drive, she always found a ride to wherever she needed to go. Her favorite place was driving around Bristol and Colt State Park to watch the water, telling stories of every house she passed on the way and who lived there. Marie leaves her son, Brian E. Tucker of Bristol and her daughter, Debra Ray of Orlando, FL. More than anything, Marie loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was Grandma, Gram, G.G. and Nana to her five grandchildren, Ellen Toner and her husband Frank, Jennifer Kneeland and her husband Mark, Christa Skipworth and her husband Andrew, Jeremy Ray and his wife Jenny and Marc Ray and his wife Hillary; eleven great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild with another on the way. She was their best friend and their partner in crime. She loved and spoiled them with all that she was. Her Celebration of life will begin with a Funeral Mass on Friday October 28, 2022 at 11AM at St. Michael's Church, 399 Hope St. Bristol. Her internment will be held following mass in St. Michael's Church Memorial Garden. For directions or tributes, please visit www.wjsmithfh.com
