Obituary For Marjorie E. Souza
Marjorie E. (Amaral) Moniz Souza, 92, of Warren, RI, passed away peacefully at Grace Barker Nursing Home on Monday, July 28, 2025. A daughter of the late Frank Amaral and Serephina (Figureid) Moorehead and the beloved wife of the late Manuel V. Moniz and Frederick Souza. Marjorie lived most of her life in Warren.
Marjorie was a fantastic hairdresser and ran her own salon for many years. She loved to travel with her late husband, Manny, and got to see many parts of the world. Marjorie was also a plane fanatic who flew in several types of planes throughout the years including open cockpit biplanes as well as gliders. Marjorie loved watching hockey, especially her favorite player Bobby Orr. She helped Manny to open and run Manny’s Hockey Shop in 1972. In her spare time, Marjorie loved to garden and cook for her family. More than anything, Marjorie really loved her families – her first family she started with her late husband, Manny, and later, the new family members she gained from her second marriage to her late husband, Fred.
Marjorie is survived by her sons, James “Jay” Moniz and his wife Mary Ann and Joey Marjorie Moniz all of Warren, RI, two step-children, Frederick “Buddy” Souza and his wife Sandy and Louanne Mastriano all of Bristol, RI; her brother, Frank Amaral Jr. of Bristol, RI; two grandchildren, Jason Moniz, Kelly Wingate (Matthew), five step-grandchildren, Ryan Souza (Stephanie), Jared Souza, Ashleigh Warrender, Elise Warrender and Oliver Warrender; six great grandchildren, Skylar, Riley, Zoey, Sophia, Parker and Etta; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Beverly Silva, Marie Amaral and Elizabeth Amaral.
All services and visitation were private.
Arrangements were with Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Rd. Warren, RI 02885.
