Obituary For Mary Casey Campeau
Mary Casey Campeau was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at the age of 81. She was the daughter of the late James W. and Irene (Gauthier) Crowley. Mary was married for 51 years to the love of her life, Paul E. Casey, Jr. who preceded her in death.
Mary was a proud Warren native before retiring to Florida and recently returning to North Smithfield, RI. Mary was very active in the St. Mary of the Bay Church and local community, while her late husband, Paul, served on the Warren Rescue Squad. Mary was employed by the Rhode Island Foundation prior to her retirement. She was a very devout Catholic, first as a longtime parishioner of St. Mary of the Bay, and later as a member of the founding board at St. Faustina Catholic Church in Clermont, FL. She served as a Eucharistic Minister for most of her life and continued to care for the sick and deliver the eucharist to residents at St. Antoine’s Residence. Aside from her years of service, Mary loved to travel and go on cruises with Paul, her late husband, spend time at Disney with friends and family, go on her regular walks, and spend time with her many friends. Most of all, she loved to be around her family, especially her grandchildren.
Mary is survived by her children, Deborah Thoener and her husband Marc of North Attleboro, MA, Peter Casey and his wife Janet of Hatfield, MA, Keith Casey and his wife Elizabeth of Somerset, MA, and her beloved grandchildren Tyler, Jennifer, Cara, Griffin, Cassidy, and Cooper. Mary is also survived by her brother, James William Crowley II of Austin TX, her sister, Martha (Crowley) Rogers of Middlefield, CT and her nieces and nephews. Her family will always remember the love she brought into their lives.
Before she passed, she imparted these words of wisdom to her children and grandchildren: “Go live your lives. Be good… but not all the time.”
Mary’s legacy will be forever imprinted on the hearts and minds of those she touched. Her devotion to her faith and her love for her family will be forever remembered and cherished.
Services are with Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Rd. Warren, RI, where the family will receive relatives and guests for Visitation on Monday, June 3, 2024 from 8-9AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10AM in St. Mary of the Bay Parish, 645 Main St. Warren, RI 02885. Burial will be at St. Ann Cemetery, 73 Church St. Cranston, RI 02920.

I enjoyed getting spending after school time at the Casey's when they lived by Jed Hanley's For N Aft in Warren. Cousin Mary always made sure we were fed and taken care of, even sharing the hard candies she loved to snack on throughout the day. Rest in peace.

My sympathy to Mary's friends and family. I knew and worked with her and Paul in establishing St. Faustina parish in Florida. They were both very special and loving persons. Marie Sulzmann
