Obituary For Mary Jane Alfred

Mary J. ( Smith) Alfred, 87, of Warren , died Monday at Miriam Hospital. She was the wife of Charles H. Alfred, they were married for over 65 years.

Mary was born in Providence a daughter of the late William J. and Emma (Nerone) Smith.

Mrs. Alfred was a Secretary for Lloyd Mfg, and also Filmex Corp. for many years, before retiring. Mary was a Warren resident all of her life, and was a parishioner of St. Mary of the Bay Church. She was a member of the Warren Democratic Womens Club.

Besides her husband she is survived by her sons Stephen A. Alfred of South Kingstown, Mark S. Alfred of Bellingham, Ma., John C. Alfred of Warren, her daughters Linda Geisser of Attleboro, MA., and Leslie McGrath of Bradford, MA. She was the grandmother of 14, and the great grandmother of 6, she is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late William H. Biddy Alfred. Mary was also the sister of the late Augustine W. Smith, Shirley A. McCanna, Joyce Primiano, and also Frances " Fanny" Coyne

Her funeral will be held Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 10:00am from the Smith Funeral and Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Rd., Warren, followed by a mass of Christian Burial at 11:30am in St. Mary of the Bay Church, 645 Main St. Warren. Burial will be in St. Mary of the Bay Cemetery, Vernon St.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend.

Visiting hours are Friday from 4-7pm.

In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory can be sent to the American Cancer Society, Southern New England Chapter, 931 Jefferson Blvd, Warwick, RI, 02886

    Nana were an amazing person who I was blessed to call my Nana. Your smile will forever shine on and I will remember all that we shared.
