Obituary For MaryJane Labao

MaryJane (LaForge) Labao, 80, of Bristol, passed away peacefully at Newport Hospital on Wednesday, March 11, 2026 with her family by her bedside.

Born in Fall River, MA, she was the daughter of the late Emile and Hilda (Gracia) LaForge.

Mary Jane was a communicant of St. Elizabeth’s Church in Bristol, Rhode Island, where she was a devoted member of the Holy Rosary Sodality. A faithful Catholic, she often traveled to Marian apparition sites, including Lourdes, France; Fatima, Portugal; and Medjugorje, Bosnia. She was also a frequent visitor to shrines throughout the United States, with the National Shrine of the Divine Mercy in Stockbridge, Massachusetts being among her favorites.

Throughout her career, Mary Jane worked in various manufacturing positions, ultimately retiring from Raytheon, where she contributed to the production of components for the Patriot Missile system. In addition to her manufacturing work, she also served for many years as a personal care attendant.

Mary Jane was a member of the YMCA, where she enjoyed participating in water aerobics. She loved to travel, whether it was taking short day trips with friends, enjoying weekend getaways with family, or traveling abroad. She especially enjoyed spending time with friends, shopping, dining at local restaurants, and playing bingo. Mary Jane was always ready for a new adventure.

Mary Jane will be remembered most for her kind and caring spirit, her infectious laughter, and the quiet strength and calm grace with which she carried herself.

She is survived by her daughters: Lynn Mahoney and Cindy Labao; her grandson: Eoghan Mahoney; her sister: Gloria Smith; and extended relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her sister Dorothy and her brother Emile “Peter” LaForge.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at 10:00 AM at St. Elizabeth’s Church, 577 Wood Street, Bristol, RI. She will be laid to rest at St. Jean the Baptist Cemetery, Vernon Street, Warren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name can be made to Friends of St. Elizabeth’s Church, 577 Wood Street, Bristol, RI 02809.
