Obituary For Matteo D Castigliego

Matteo D. Castigliego, 80, of Warren passed away on Thursday, January 27, 2022. The son of the late Paul and Theresa (Sementelli) Castigliego, he lived in Bristol for many years before moving to Warren where he was a prominent resident. He was the beloved husband of Rosemary (Castro) Castigliego of 58 years. Matteo was a man who filled many roles in his lifetime. He was the owner and operator of several businesses; Pak-o-Matic Waste Disposal throughout the 70's and 80's, Matteo's Restaurant, Castigliego's Fish and Chips, as well as several others. He was one of the founders of the Warren Quahog Festival, served as the president of the Rotary Club, sat on the Warren Town Council for many years, was a member of the Warren Town Planning Board and was a beloved and successful baseball coach for the Warren Little League for many years. In his free time, he enjoyed vacationing to his condo in Sarasota, FL with his wife and family. But most of all, he loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchild. He was known by all who knew him as an exceptionally kind man who was always there for everyone. In addition to his loving wife, Rosemary, Matteo is survived by his daughter, Dawn Sequino and her husband David of Bristol; his sons PJ Castigliego and Scott Castigliego and his wife Susan, both of Warren; his five grandchildren, Brittany Lee Sequino, Cody Michael Sequino, Scott Castigliego Jr., Shayna Castigliego and Rachel Castigliego; and his great granddaughter, Milani Jade Sequino-Ziki. He was the brother of the late Louise Diorio and Paula Cruz. Services are with Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Rd. Warren, RI, where the family will receive relatives and friends for visitation on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 from 4-7PM. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, February 3, 2022 at 11AM in St. Luke's Church, 108 Washington Rd. Barrington, RI 02806.
