Obituary For Matthew P. Ferrara

Ferrara, Matthew P., 80 of Warren, died Wednesday, August 31st in Moncton, Canada. Born in Providence, RI a son of the late Matthew and Diolinda (Raposa) Ferrara, beloved husband of Judy (Davis) Ferrara. He was a self-employed master plumber.

Matthew was an active member of the Baptist Church in Warren. He was an avid model airplane enthusiast and had belonged to the Generations Drum Corps.

Besides his wife, he leaves his children, Matthew P. Ferrara (Therese) of Mill River, MA; Linda Hawkins-Hall (John) of Tiverton; his siblings, Robert Ferrara, Frank Ferrara, Julia Izbicki and Ellen Fennelly all of Bristol and Salvatore Ferrara of East Providence. Loving grandfather of Brook Hawkins, Matthew, Blake and Andrea Ferrara. He was also the father of the late Susan Lynn Ferrara.

Arrangements are with Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren, where family will receive friends, Saturday, September 10th from 8:30 to 9:30am.

Burial will be in South Burial Ground at 10:00am. The funeral service will be held at 11am in the Baptist Church in Warren, 407 Main Street, Warren, RI 02885.

Filling up my boiler on this cold day I was reminded of the nice man who installed it over 20 years ago. Matt was good friends with my late father Wayne Fernandes, and he was our plumber and friend. I used to sit quietly in the corner as a little kid and watch him work. I remember the big green Chevy van he drove. It was a good man and he will be sorely missed.
