Obituary For Michael Urban

URBAN, MICHAEL J, 89, of Warren Avenue passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 10, 2013, at Silver Creek Manor in Bristol, Rhode Island, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Somerset, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Peter and Marcyanna (Wisz) Urban. Michael is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Sophie (Rodzen). He is also survived by his three children: Michael and his wife, Linda (Annunziata), of Bristol, Mary and her husband, Bill (Hanley) of Bristol, and Anthony Francis Urban and his wife, Nancy (Vargas), of Warren. He was the brother of Edward Urban of Somerset, Massachusetts, and was predeceased by siblings, Mildred Petres, Henry Urban, and Josephine Taranowicz. He had ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and was the uncle of many nieces and nephews. A veteran of World War II, he was a Medical Aidman assigned to the 392nd Medical Collecting Company, providing first aid treatment to soldiers in Normandy, Northern France, the Rhineland, and Central Europe. After his honorable discharge, Michael was a silversmith at Armor Bronze, Coppercraft Guild, and Reed and Barton. He was a dedicated member of the St. Josephs Society, the Warren Fire Department Engine 2, and VFW Post 122. Michael was a communicant of St. Alexanders parish and the former St. Casimirs parish in Warren, Rhode Island, where he served on various parish committees. Arrangements are with Smith Funeral and Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 8 P.M. on Tuesday, August, 13. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, August 14, at 10 A.M. at St. Alexanders Church, 221 Main Street, Warren, Rhode Island. For information and condolences, see www.wjsmithfh.com.

    Mary & family...I am sorry to hear of your dad's passing. Please let your mom know also that I'm sorry for her loss & thinking about you all. He was always a very nice & polite man to everyone. My thoughts are with you all at this sad time.
