Nancy Rose Tanner, 74 of Bristol died Monday, June 15, 2015 at home surrounded by her loving family.

She was the wife of Edward Tanner of Bristol, they were married for over 54 years.

Born in Fall River, she was a daughter of the late William J. & Rita C. (Laforge) Alger.

She was a homemaker, and a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Barrington.

She has lived in Bristol since 1964, coming from Warren, and was a graduate of the Warren High School class of 1959.

Mrs. Tanner enjoyed spending time at her house in Vermont which she and her husband built, her family gatherings, she enjoyed camping, and travelling. She enjoyed square dancing and was a member of the Dancing Squares of Riverside. She liked scrapbooking, quilting, gardening and flowers.

Besides her husband she is survived by her sons, Robert & Pamela Tanner of Swansea, Edward M. & Elizabeth Tanner of Bristol and one daughter, Linda A. and Frank Borges of Riverside. Also her brother William Alger of Warren, and sisters; Barbara Dallaire of Warren, and Catherine Turner of Newfane VT., She was the grandmother of 7 and great grandmother of 2, also survived by many nieces and nephews. Her funeral service will be held Saturday June 20, 2015 at 1:30 pm in the St. James Lutheran Church, 49 Middle Highway Barrington RI. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.

Visiting Hours are Friday from 4-7 pm in the Smith Funeral, Memorial and Cremation Services, 8 Schoolhouse Rd. Warren.
