Obituary For Nicholas Passaretti

Nicholas Passaretti, 79, of Warren, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2025, at his home.

Nick’s life began in Trenton, New Jersey, on September 29, 1946. As a young boy, he was an avid fan of the Brooklyn Dodgers, which sparked his dream of becoming a baseball player—particularly a catcher. His love of sports and athletics inspired him to pursue a degree in Physical Education at Murray State University. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training from Arizona State University and a master’s degree in Physical Therapy from Boston University.

Throughout his professional career, Nick traveled widely. He worked with the New England Patriots, the Norwood High School football and basketball teams, Northeastern University, and served as the Head Athletic Trainer for Boston University taking much pride in the hockey and football teams who were near and dear to his heart.

He was an active member of NATA and attended many of the organization’s conferences. After leaving Boston University, Nick founded his own practice, Ortho Sport Physical Therapy, originally in Boston and later relocated closer to home in Medway, Massachusetts. He quickly became known as “the therapist who could heal just about anything.” Patients and friends alike would often say, “Just go see Nick!” His dedication, skill, and passion for helping others made him one of a kind in his field. Over the years, he met many remarkable people who influenced his life in meaningful ways, including Tom Simmons, Catherine Perry, Paul Brady, and Carol Devine.

Nick’s love of athletics continued throughout his life, especially his devotion to the LA Dodgers—he was famous for declaring, “I bleed blue!” After settling in Massachusetts, he also found himself cheering for the Red Sox. Beyond sports, Nick found great joy in the kitchen, where he perfected his signature pasta and pizza sauces and created his legendary pizzas. He was even working on his own cookbook up until the day he passed. In his younger years, Nick also enjoyed running, surfcasting, and golf.

Nick leaves behind his partner and best friend, Carol Devine with whom he shared a life full of love and laughter. He was predeceased by his dear sister MaryLee Cseh. He is survived by his children, Lauren and Michael Passaretti; his granddaughter, Michaela; his nieces Rebecca Palumbo and Rita Cseh; as well as Carol’s children, Lindsay Sullivan and Kyle Pearson.

A celebration of Nick’s life will be held on November 22, 2025 from 12-4, at The Boat House Restaurant in Tiverton, Rhode Island. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Animal Medical Center of the Lowcountry in Beaufort, South Carolina (https://amclowcountryvet.com).

Nick will be deeply missed and forever remembered in our hearts. His family extends heartfelt gratitude for the love, support, stories, and memories shared during this time.

In our collective desire to be better than we are, to achieve everlasting glory, to earn some shred of immortality, we all pay tribute to the champions. We bow in honor and we lift our glass to cheer for those who possess that rare strength and courage necessary to emerge victorious from the field of battle. Champions matter to us in many ways, but arguably they matter most because they give us hope. By their example we carry on and keep them in that place reserved for things we hold so dear. We keep them in our hearts, for that is where the Champions live immortal. Nick was our trainer, friend, our team mate, and we knew him if only for a short while. We'll keep the fire lit, rest in peace. #80
