Pat and I were political adversaries but I had the utmost respect for him. He was an American First, then a Warrenite then a Democrat. When I was appointed to the U.S. Dept of Agriculture by Reagan he congratulated me. When Bush won in 2000 he encouraged me to get the job back. We had breakfast together many times. This is the way politics should be not the divisiveness we have today. Test in peace Pat! Al Bettencourt
