Obituary For Patrick Usher

Patrick Usher, 82, of Bristol, RI passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. A son of the late John H. and Teresa (Costeldi) Usher and the husband of the late Marilyn (Flynn) Usher, Patrick was a lifelong resident of Bristol.

Patrick was a hardworking, straightforward man and a true farmer. When their father passed, Patrick and his brother, James took over the farm. In 1973 they switched from being a dairy farm to vegetables. Next year will be the 60th year of selling the sweet corn they are so widely known for growing. He truly loved his work and was very well known by everyone in town. Aside from his work, Patrick enjoyed playing the stock market and attempted to make dandelion wine a couple of times. Most of all, he loved to spend time with his grandchildren and spent many, many hours in the fields and on the tractors with them.

Patrick is survived by his sons, Patrick Usher Jr. and his wife Diane of Bristol, RI, and Seth Usher and his wife Charlotte of Bristol, RI; his daughter, Emily Pacheco and her husband Peter of Riverside, RI; and his ten grandchildren, Rebecca Usher, Patrick Usher III, Madeline Usher, Matthew Usher, Thomas Usher, Benjamin Usher, Charles Usher, all of Bristol, RI, and Lucas Pacheco, Elizabeth Pacheco and Nathan Pacheco, all of Riverside, RI. He was the brother of the late John Usher, Robert Usher, James Usher and Paul Usher.

Services are with Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Rd. Warren, RI, where the family will receive relatives and guests for Visitation on Thursday, February 15, 2024 from 4-7PM. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, February 16, 2024 at 8:30AM followed immediately by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM in Mt. Carmel Church, 141 State Rd. Bristol. A Burial will be at North Burial Ground, 1081 Hope St. Bristol, RI.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Usher family at this sad time. Pat was a classmate of mine in the Bristol High School class of 1959, and always a friend forever. We all know his sweet corn is by far the best around, but the conversations were worth the stop to purchase it. He is now with Marilyn, who was taken from him far too soon. May he now rest in peace!

He always made my day when I stopped for corn. I used to drive an Element and he always had questions about it. A nice, nice man.
