Obituary For Randal Scott Tappen

Randal Scott Tappen, 50, of Warren, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at his residence. He was the beloved husband of Michelle (Ribeiro) Tappen.

Born in Fall River, Massachusetts, he was the son of Robert Tappen and the late Vivian Couto.

Randal worked in hospitality for many years. He worked as a bartender for many years at The ABC in Newport and Localz Kitchen and Cocktails in Portsmouth. He also was a manager at The Wharf in Warren. Most recently he opened an Ice Cream Shop in Warren and was starting to fulfil his dreams. At all these places he made amazing friends and met amazing people that changed his life and he was able to bring a smile to all their faces. He will be remembered as a hard worker, family man and having a great sense of humor.

Randal loved spending time with his family, his dog Lewis and being a social butterfly with anyone he encountered. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing, and traveling to Portugal.

In addition to his wife, Michelle, he is survived by his two sons, Brennen Tappen and his girlfriend Eve Lowrimore and Sean Tappen; his daughter Kasey Tappen; brother Robert Tappen; nieces and nephews, family and friends from all over the country and world.

Services will be held at Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Rd. Warren, RI, where the family will receive relatives and guests for a Celebration of Life on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, from 10AM-1PM.
