Obituary For Raymond S. Sanchas
Raymond S. Sanchas, 93, of Warren passed away Sunday, August 16, 2015 at Home & Hospice Care inpatient Center. He was the husband of Marie I. (Gallant) Sanchas, they had been married for 69 years.
He was a son of the late Marianno and Corine (Charboneau) Sanchas. A lifelong Warren resident, Raymond worked as a mail carrier for the US Post Office.
He served in the Army during WW II and was very active in veterans organizations. He volunteered for the VA Hospital for over 40 years and the RI Veterans home. He was a national committee man for the American Legion, past state commander of the DAV, Commander of RI State Veterans Council. He was a member of Engine 3 and the Warren Rescue. He was a lifelong member of St. Jean Baptiste Church.
He is survived by two sons Raymond Sanchas of PA. and Robert Sanchas of Warren, five daughters Mary Miller of NC. Nancy Hart of MA. Autumn Breeze of Warren, Isabelle Sanchas of RI and Catherine Jones of AK. His daughter Ann Marie Sanchas predeceased him. Many grand and great grandchildren also survived him.
His funeral services will be Thursday at 10 am at Smith Funeral & Memorial Services 8 Schoolhouse Rd. Warren RI. Visitation Wednesday 4-7pm. Burial with Military Honors will be in RI Veterans Cemetery. wjsmithfh.com
