Obituary For Richard C. Mendoza

Richard C. Mendoza, 78, of Warren passed away on Monday, July 20, 2026 in Providence, RI surrounded by family. He was the devoted husband of Jennifer DeAngelis for 33 years before his passing.

Born in Fall River, MA, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mollie (Medici) Mendoza.

He was a devoted family man whose greatest joy in life was the time he spent with those he loved. Whether gathering with family, sharing stories with friends, or simply enjoying each other's company, he made everyone around him feel welcome and valued. His kindness, humor, and generous spirit will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

For many years, he dedicated countless hours to coaching Warren Little League, making a lasting impact on the lives of so many young athletes. He taught more than the game of baseball—he taught teamwork, sportsmanship, confidence, and the importance of giving your best. His players and their families will remember him not only as a coach, but as a mentor, role model, and friend.

A lifelong sports fan, he rarely missed cheering on his beloved Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. Whether celebrating victories or enduring tough seasons, his loyalty to his teams never wavered, and game days were always something to look forward to.

He also enjoyed bowling, where he built lifelong friendships and created many cherished memories. He treasured his yearly trips to New Hampshire, where he looked forward to making memories with family. Aruba held a special place in his heart, and he always enjoyed returning to the island he loved. Closer to home, he could often be found at Market Street Pub, surrounded by friends, sharing laughs, telling stories, and enjoying good conversation.

Though his passing leaves an immeasurable void, his legacy of love, generosity, laughter, and friendship will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

In addition to his wife Jen, Richard is also survived by his children: Jessica DeAngelis (Nathaniel “Ab” Pfeiffer), David Mendoza, and Matthew Mendoza (Beth): his granddaughter: Quinn DeAngelis; grandson: Matthew Mendoza; his sister-in-law: Sherlye Mendoza; many nieces and nephews; and many extended relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Joseph and Mollie and his siblings: Joseph Mendoza, William Mendoza, James Mendoza, Marion Nencka, Rosann Roderick, and Eleanor Murphy.
