Obituary For Robert J Andrade
Robert J. Andrade, 63, of Bristol, Rhode Island, died unexpectedly Monday, February 9, 2015.
Bob was a highly respected educator for the E-Cubed College Preparatory Academy in Providence, R.I., and also a teacher for many years at St. Elizabeths School in Bristol, R.I. He was a scholar of American history, having earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Rhode Island and his graduate degree from Rhode Island College. Whether through books or personal investigation of historic sites, he loved researching the past and discovering new facts about the United States. He was an advocate of American flag protocol and military veteran memorials. As a naturalist for the Colt Farm State Park, he was intimately familiar with the local lore and legend of the area and enjoyed telling those stories to any willing audience. Like most Bristolians, the annual 4th of July celebration was his most favorite time of year to visit with friends and family.
Affectionately know as Baseball Bob among his friends, he was well known for his love of sports in the communities of the East Bay and Block Island. He loved his many visits to Block Island to catch up with close friends.
Bob was a member of the Elks Club, Icon Boxing Club, East Warren Rod & Gun Club, the Newport Artillery Company, a volunteer for the Nature Conservancy and Senator John Chaffee, and a coach for the Warren R.I. Little League system.
Bob is the son of the late Charles and Rita (Darezzo) Andrade of Bristol, R.I. He is survived by his brother Stephen and his wife Anne of Bristol, sister Patricia Andrade of Davis, CA., nephews Luke J. Andrade of Oakland, CA., Henry Chatfield of Oakland, CA., and niece Mollie J. Andrade of Las Vegas, NV. He will be fondly remembered as a kind, generous and gentle man by his many relatives and friends from the East Bay, Block Island, and California.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a scholarship fund established in his name at the E-Cubed Academy. The Robert Andrade Citizenship Award will be given to a graduating student, chosen by a panel of the principal and senior teachers, who most exemplified the qualities of citizenship that Bob held so dear. Checks can be made out to "E3 Academy", put "The Robert Andrade Citizenship Award" on the memo line. Address to: E-Cubed Academy, 812 Branch Avenue, Providence, RI 02904, Attn: Sharon L. Montecalvo.
Services will be held at the Smith Funeral Home, 8 Schoolhouse Road Warren, R.I. on Saturday, February 21, 2015. Calling hours are 10:30-12 noon, eulogy at 11:45am.
He will be buried at Bristols North Burial Ground Memorial Garden in a private ceremony at a later date. www.wjsmithfh.com

So sad to hear of his passing. He was a great addition to the St. Elizabeth staff. As my fifth grade teacher and later a colleague in the Providence School system, it was clear that he had a love for sharing all he knew through educating others. He will be missed.

Dear Andrade Family, hello. I was reading the online obit for Mr. Andrade, and wanted to leave my condolences with you. I hope that the thoughts I am sending along will be of some comfort to you. Please take great care! The faithful man Job said If an able bodied man dies can he live again? You will call and I myself shall answer you. For the work of your hands you will have a yearning. Job 14:14, 15 This denotes Godâ??s earnest longing and desire. Genesis 31:30, Psalm 84:2 Clearly God must keenly anticipate the resurrection. Can we really believe the resurrection promise? Yes there is no doubt that God and his Son are both willing and able to fulfill it. What does this mean for you? You have the prospect of being reunited with dead loved ones right here on earth but under very different conditions! John 5:28.

My condolences to Mr. Andrade's family. I had the pleasure to work with Bob for the past five years. He was an excellent teacher and was very supportive of my students. Many of the students have stated over the years that their favorite class was History. Most if not all had Bob as their teacher. We will all miss his smiling face at his classroom door.

I knew Bob J. Andrade through my cousin Candace Sarasin. I would see him occasionally in Bristol walking or at my Aunt Dorothy's home. I will miss seeing him again. He was a kind soul. May he rest in peace.
