Obituary For Rodney J. Sylvia
Rodney “RJ” J. Sylvia, 55, of Bristol, RI, passed away on Monday, October 14, 2024 after a long illness. A son of the late Rodney Sylvia and Marilyn (Flynn) Usher, Rodney was a lifelong resident of Bristol.
RJ worked for St. Elizabeth’s Manor for many years and when he was younger, he volunteered for the Bristol Fire Department. In his spare time, RJ enjoyed watching sports. He was an avid hockey and football fan and loved to watch the Bruins and the Bills play. He was known as an easy-going person and was liked by everyone who got to meet him. He loved to go to Florida with his grandparents and to spend time with his nieces and nephews.
RJ is survived by his brothers, Seth Usher and his wife Charlotte of Bristol, RI and Patrick Usher Jr. and his wife Diane of Bristol, RI; his sister, Emily Pacheco and her husband Peter of Riverside, RI; his ten nieces and nephews, Rebecca Usher, Patrick Usher III, Lucas Pacheco, Thomas Usher, Elizabeth Pacheco, Madeline Usher, Benjamin Usher, Matthew Usher, Nathan Pacheco and Charles Usher; as well as many cousins.
Services are with Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Rd. Warren, RI, where the family will receive relatives and guests for Visitation on Monday, October 21, 2024 from 4-7PM. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at 9AM followed immediately by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 141 State St. Bristol, RI 02809. A Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Chestnut St. Bristol, RI 02809.
