Obituary For Roland W Pugsley

Roland W. Pugsley, 74 of Barrington , died Saturday Nov. 21, 2015 at the Chestnut Terrace Nursing and Rehab in East Providence.

He was the husband of Sharon (Bento) Pugsley.

Mr. Pugsley was born in Framingham Ma., a son of the late Harold and Evangeline (Foote) Pugsley.

Roland was a Statistical Analyst for over 20 years for the Allendale insurance Co., Now FM Global, before retiring.

He has lived in Barrington for over 21 years coming from Scituate, he was a member of the Barrington United Methodist Church.

Mr. Pugsley was previously a School Teacher, teaching grammar school in Massachusetts, Chicago and Appalachia.

He was on the R.I. State Council of Churches Conference, he was a former committee member to build Barrington High School. He enjoyed doing research on computer language, liked reading and religion, he also enjoyed the National Geographic and geography

Besides his wife he is survived by his sons Douglas Pugsley of East Providence, David Pugsley and his wife Minnie of Jenkins, KY, is daughter Michelle Kakela of Port St. Lucie Florida, a sister Jean Sherback of Dallas Oregon.

He was the grandfather of Cassandra Shaw, and Christopher Shaw.

Also survived by 2 nieces and 1 nephew, and 3 great nieces.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours Wednesday Nov 25, 2015 from 5-7 pm in the SMITH Funeral and Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Rd. Warren.

Funeral services are private.

    Roland was interested in rockets. He ask me if I could supply seamless steel tubes to fabricate them. I could not. This all happened when we were in high school. Roland was one of the "smart kids". We did most of our conversation while waiting at the bus stop where Summer St meet Concord St, Framingham, Massachusetts.     So very sorry to hear of the passing of Roland. I worked with Roland for many, many years at Allendale Insurance. He was quite an intelligent man and such a family man raising his two sons and then two grandchildren...with the patience and calmness of a Saint. He certainly had a seat waiting for him 'upstairs'. Godspeed to you Roland.

    Sharon, So sorry to read about Roland in the paper this morning. You two have crossed my mind over the past few years. I will always remember trying to beat Roland at Trivial Pursuit.     I worked with Roland for many years at Allendale. He was my teacher when I transferred into his dept. A very intelligent man with loads of patience. I always called him " The Wizard of Ours ". My sympathy to you Sharon and to his two Sons and family. RIP
