Ruth (Remington) Bourne, 83, died Sunday, April 18, 2004 at Cortland Place Senior Living Community, Greenville, formally of County Road, Barrington.

Widow of James A. Lapan, and former wife of the late Willard Bourne.

She was born in Providence, and a daughter of the late Harold and Matilda Pearl (Ridgway)Remington.

She lived in Barrington most of her life, having also lived in Warren.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of the Barrington Congregational Church. She was very active in Girl Scouts of Rhode Island from the 1950s to the late 1970s having also served as their President. She was a member of the Barrington Preservation Society. She was a member of the former Barrington Volunteer Services for Animals.

Beloved mother of Jane R. MacDougall of Warren; Loving grandmother of Stephen and James Carter both of Warren. She leaves one great granddaughter. She was also the sister of the late John S. Remington and Dorothy Downer.

Burial will be private.
