Obituary For Scott Matthew Whitman

Scott M. Whitman, 31, of Everett, MA., and formerly of Bristol and Warren died unexpectedly Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at the Whidden Memorial Hospital in Everett.

He was born in Stoneham, MA., a son of Warren and Mary (Pontieri) Whitman of Bristol. Scott was previously employed as a Manager for the Restaurant Depot. Mr. Whitman had attended the R.I. School for the Deaf, Middletown Schools, and the Rochester Institute of Technology (R.I.T.) in New York.

He was a former Middletown High School Basketball Coach, having coached them to the championship. Scott was a member of the Dance Theatre of RI in Cumberland as a Tap Dancer .

Besides his parents he is survived by his maternal grandparents Eleanor Cronin of Bristol, John Pontieri of Charleston, South Carolina, his brother Chief Petty Officer Timothy M. Whitman, USN, Norfolk Va., his sister Kelly Marie Whitman of Warren, his godmother Donna Turner of Fayetteville, North Carolina. Scott was the uncle of Taylor Monte, Bianca Cordeiro, Mariah Cordeiro, and Timothy M. Whitman Jr.

His funeral will be held Tuesday June 9, 2015 at 8:30 am from the Smith Funeral and Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Rd., Warren, followed by a mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Mary of the Bay Church, 645 Main St. Warren. His family encourages that visitors wear NE sports team colors

I knew Scott from soccer & basketball tournaments. I have known him for a long time, but after we finished school.. we weren't in touch for a long time then I find out he has gone to Heaven. I remember him as a great guy, who always had a great smile. He is up there, smiling and dancing away. Scott's family and friends, I am so sorry for your loss..you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Kelly, Mary, Warren and Tim, I am deeply sorry for this time you are going through and nothing can change how you feel. Scott was a great guy and a great manager at D&D.
