Obituary For Shirley H Manchester Bell

Swansea Shirley H. (Millard) Manchester Bell, 97 of Swansea, MA., died Tuesday September 15, 2020 at home.

She was the wife of the late Ralph E. Manchester and also the late William Bell.

She was born in Providence, the daughter of the late Errol B. and Emily A. (Peterson) Millard.

Shirley was a Home Health Aide for many years.

She has lived in Swansea since 1987 coming from the Touisset section of Warren. She was a member of the former St. Marks Church in Warren.

She was a member of the Eastern Star for over 50 years, a member of the Roger Williams Rumford Grange for over 75 years, and she just received her 75 year pin from them. . Shirley enjoyed playing cards, travelling, working on jig saw puzzles and was an avid fisherman.

She is survived by her children Shirley Lawson of Rumford, Walter A. Manchester of Dunnellon Florida, Arthur E. Manchester of Providence and Robert E. Manchester of Waterford, Vt.

Shirley was the grandmother of 17 and the great grandmother of many.

Her funeral services will be private. She will be buried in South Burial Ground in Warren.

Calling hours and flowers are omitted.

Both my grandmotherâ??s were over my house at the time and my motherâ??s mom had given up on trying to teach me how to tie my shoes, she was trying to show me the bunny ears method with my shoe on the table and I was having none of it... Grammy told me to put my shoes on and brought me outside, plopped me on my bum in the grass and showed me the one loop and fish around method with my shoes on. For some reason my tiny brain liked that way better.
