Urban, Sophie Ann, 99 of Warren, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 at the Cove at Grace Barker Health. She was the beloved wife of her late husband, Micheal J. Urban.

Born in Warren, Sophie was a daughter of the late Franciszek and Julia (Matula) Rodzen. Sophie was predeceased by her siblings, Casimir Rodzen, Nellie Wujcik and Helen Rodzen and her son Anthony F. Urban, formerly of Warren.

Sophie is survived by her two children: Michael and his wife, Linda (Annunziata) and Mary Hanley and her husband Bill all of Bristol. She was the proud Babci of twelve grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She also leaves her daughter in law Nancy Urban of Warren.

A lifelong resident of Warren, Sophie worked as a secretary for Rhode Island School of Nursing and later as a secretary to the administrator of Rhode Island Hospital.

Sophie was a communicant of St. Casimir’s Parish, where she served on various parish committees. She was an active member of the St Casimir’s Women’s Society and the Holy Rosary Society. She faithfully participated in weekly Eucharistic Adoration. Sophie was also a member of the Orchard Lake Women’s Auxiliary and served as vice chairwoman of the seminary fundraisers.

Arrangements are with Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren, RI, where family will receive friends on March 2nd, 9-10:30am. A mass of Christian Burial will be at 11am in St Alexanders Church, Main Street, Warren. Burial will be in St Jean-Baptiste Cemetery.
