Obituary For Stephen A. Asselin
Stephen A. Asselin, 61, of Warren, RI, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 23, 2024. A son of Andre “Andy” and Ann (Beaulieu) Asselin, he was a lifelong resident of Warren.
Stephen joined the Warren Fire Department, Massasoit Hook and Ladder Company when he was eighteen years old and served as an active firefighter rising to the rank of Captain. Stephen expanded his civic duty by serving on the Warren Rescue Squad where he also rose to the rank of Captain. Stephen also taught EMT training classes for many years. In later years, he remained involved in many fire department social events and always made himself available as a mentor to young firefighters.
Stephen was a seasoned technical professional, starting his career as a Test Technician at Fram Corporation and becoming a highly-respected Engineering Manager and mentor at Ariston Group. Stephen was always busy. He was a true renaissance man who could figure out and fix anything from automotive, electrical, and mechanical to complex enterprise level manufacturing and information systems. Stephen was a YouTube fanatic and sought out subjects to expand his knowledge and learn new skills.
In his spare time, Stephen enjoyed watching NASCAR, cooking and grilling, restoring his father, Andy’s first car, spending time with his dogs and teasing everyone that he loved, especially his wonderful family.
In addition to his loving parents, Andy and Ann, Stephen is survived by his brothers, Christien Asselin and his wife Nancy of Warren, RI and A. Andre Asselin and his wife Laura of Morrisville, NC; his niece, Paige Asselin and nephew, Wyatt Asselin. Stephen was the caregiver to Nichole Duncan, daughter of the late Thereselee (Bunn) Asselin and loving “Grampy” to Annabelle Dias.
Services are with Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Rd. Warren, RI, where the family will receive relatives and guests for Visitation on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 from 4-7PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2024 at 11AM at St. Mary of the Bay Parish, 645 Main St. Warren, RI followed immediately by internment at St. Jean the Baptiste Cemetery, Greenlawn Ave. Warren, RI.

Rest in peace my friend. There's so much to say and never enough time to say it. I'm sure you'll be keeping yourself busy fixing everything that's been neglected up there. Still keeping the old truck running.
