Obituary For Stephen A Ferri

Stephen A Ferri Jr., 64, of Warren, RI passed away at his home on Friday November 14. Born to Stephen A Ferri and Orella (Lessard) Ferri in 1950, he was raised in Warren, a town he was proud to be a part of. He grew up closely with his talented sister Ginger (Ferri) Dale. He was an accomplished and intelligent man with a gift for telling stories. From a young age he excelled in his academic pursuits, became an Eagle Scout and had a talent for sports. After graduating from LaSalle Academy in 1968 he went on to Fairfield University 72, earned a masters degree from URI and attended Suffolk Law School.

President and chairman of the NECCD and a member of the Governors Justice Committee, Steve dedicated much of his life to criminal justice and politics. He served on the Warren Town Council, later as Chairman of the Warren Democratic Town Committee and was a volunteer fireman. After a career of more than 30 years in the Dept of Corrections he retired as RI Senior Probation Counselor and became a teacher at the East Bay Collaborative and Barrington High School.

Steve was proud of his Italian American heritage and was a natural teacher. Along with Rosemary M. Ferri he raised three rambunctious boys. He coached multiple youth sports and was a voracious reader with a quick wit.

To Steve's family, i am so deeply sorry to hear of your dad's passing. He was a wonderfully kind man, whom I shared many intelligent conversations with not to mention lots of laughter. So sad to lose such a kind loving person way too soon. He was a very proud father, always with a loving smile on his face when he spoke about his children. He will be deeply missed.

Dear Steve, Jason, Brendan and Colin, Though I will not be with you on Friday, I will celebrate Mass on Friday morning for your Dad's intention. He was someone who always had a good word for me and warmly welcomed me back to Warren. God bless him and all of you.
