Obituary For Theresa C. Martel

Theresa C. ( Carraturo) Martel, 94 of Warren, died Tuesday Sept. 2, 2014 at the Crestwood Nursing Home, Warren. She was the wife of the late Albert Martel. Theresa was born in Bristol a daughter of the late John and Mary Grace ( Rivera) Carraturo. Mrs. Martel, was a homemaker and previously worked as a Dress maker for the former Well Made Dress Company for many years, and also had worked for the former Lowneys Laundry. She has been a resident of Warren since 1939 coming from Bristol, she was a parishioner of St. Jean the Baptiste Church, and she enjoyed gardening and planting flowers .

She is survived by her son Edward and his wife Nancy Martel of Warren, a grandson Kevin Martel of Warren, a granddaughter Karen Vincelette of Alburgh VT. Mrs. Martel was the great grandmother of three, and also survived by several nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Carmine Carraturo, the late Frederick Carraturo , the late Nancy Martel, and the late Millie Simonelli.

Her funeral will be held Saturday Sept. 6, 2014 at 9:00 am from the Smith Funeral and Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Road , Warren, followed by a mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Jean the Baptiste Church, 328 Main St. Warren, burial will follow in St. Jean the Baptiste Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours Friday from 4- 7pm.

    Hello Ed so sorry to hear about moms passing..She was a great women and very nice to all her knew her..In case your wondering who I am i use to take care of them all with the Martel family at the off where I work for Dr. Demicco at the Bristol Medical Center they were all good people..I know your mom live on child street and everytime I go by her house I think of her.. I did not know she was in a nursing home. They all were great people I love them all...Sorry for your loss she is in heaven with the rest of her sisters and brothers..RIP Theresa Gail Garcia

    Eddie, We are sorry for your loss. I am sure Carmine, Fred, Nancy and my Gramma all greeted her when she left this world and joined them. I always remember her great sense of humor. I went to Bermuda with her a few times and always enjoyed her company. She went by Terry to my friends on those trips..first I had heard of that. I remember her getting the black squid ink pasta appetizer several nights in a row....and loving it. But, on the third night Gramma asked what made it black and that was that..'Aunt Terry' wasn't eating it that night or again! I was lucky to listen to your Mom and my gram reminiscing about the days of their youth so many times. I never tired of those stories. An end of an era.
