Veta Mae (Ferrell) Pounds, 81 died Saturday, May 31, 2003 in Atlanta Georgia, formerly of Clayton, NC.

The wife of the late Joe Parrish and James Pounds Born in Wendell, NC, she was the daughter of Matthew & Roxie Anna (Griffin) Ferrell. With the exception of the last few months of her life, she had lived in North Carolina since birth.

She was a Civil Service employee for Simmons Army Airfield, Ft Bragg, NC where she managed the helicopter facility mess hall before retiring.

She helped as a florist when she could at her sister's flower shop (Rubys Florist) in Spring Lake, NC. She enjoyed embroidery work on many items to include pillows, quilts, sheets and numerous other items.

Beloved mother to Jennifer Karsch of Bristol RI, Ronald Pounds of Atlanta GA, James (Ricky) Pounds of Lillington NC and the late Larry Parrish of Las Vegas Nevada. She was a loving grandmother to Tanya and Peter Karsch of Bristol, Alexander, Austin and Aaron Pounds of Atlanta and Jane (Parrish) Thompson of Atlanta. She leaves one great-grandson. She was a mother in-law to Robert Karsch and Debbie Pounds. A sister to the late Ruby (Ferrell) Horton, John, Lennie, George, Charlie, Grover, Janie, Claude, Pharoh and Fammie Ferrell.

A Memorial Service was held in Stone Mountain, Georgia.

The burial was held at Clyde's Chapel Cemetery in Wendell NC on Sunday May 30, 2004.
