Obituary For Ward L Sears
Ward L.. Sears, 75, of Bristol, died Sunday Oct. 23, 2016 at home. He was the husband of the late Jennie ( Castigliego) Sears. Ward was born in Springfield, MA., a son of the late Ward A. and Noreen (Morgan) Sears. Mr. Sears was a Civil Engineer for the Stone and Wagner for many years, and also for Burns and Roe. He was a licensed and certified Engineer.
Mr. Sears was a Captain in the US Army, serving as a unit commander, in the construction engineers, division, while serving in Vietnam.
While in the service, he received the Vietnam Service Medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars, National Defense Service Medal, 2 overseas bars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device 1960, a Unit Commendation Medal, and the Army Commendation Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters.
He was an undergraduate of Northeastern University with degree in Engineering, and a graduate of Syracuse University with an MBA. Mr. Sears had attended Northeastern University on an Athletic Scholarship, for Basketball, and was a captain on their team and is in the Hall of Fame at the University.
Mr. Sears, was a kind hearted person, and a jack of all trades, who loved caring for his late wife, and also loved sports. He was always helping others, whether it was remodeling, or driving someone someplace. He liked photography, playing cards, and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Mr. Sears is survived by his daughters Nicola Uzell and her husband William of Shrewsbury MA,. Shelley and her husband Daniel DAmato of Tolland Ct. He was the brother of Nancy June Royce and her husband Richard of Ludlow Ma, a sister in law Jessica Garakop and her husband John of Warren RI.
He was the grandfather of Amanda Uzell, Brandon Uzell, Dillon DAmato, and Aidan DAmato. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are with Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren, RI where family will receive friends, Sunday Oct. 30, 2016 from 2 -5 pm. His funeral service will be held Monday October 31, 2016 at 10:00am in the funeral home. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the North Burial Ground, Hope Street, Bristol.

So sorry to hear about Ward. My deepest sympathies to the family. Ward and I worked for many years together at Burns and Roe. Our experiences over the years will be well remembered.

Nicola and Shelly. so sorry about the passing of your Dad and what has been a very difficult year for your family. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and we loved having him be a part of our extended family. Always there to give help or support to anyone that needed it. He will be missed.

Dear Shelly & Nicola So sorry for the loss of your Dad. He was a wonderful husband to your Mom and so happy to have had him stop by just a week ago and we had a long conversation. We have missed them both as neighbors. We wish we could have been with you both, but due to health issues ourselves can't make it. We'll be thinking of both during this very sad day - all our love - Kathy & Bob w e had a great conversation
